Designer Resort Wear Inspiration for Your Hens Party

The spring/ summer menswear collections have just hit runways across Paris and are making waves across the globe. As gender lines are becoming increasingly blurred and designer wear is tending toward androgyny, all genders are eagerly anticipating each and every show, ready to try and pick up some style inspo. There were some great menswear collections, however, we’ve decided to focus on the lesser hyped but just as intriguing resort collections. Much more suitable for hens party attire, resort wear is extremely versatile and can provide inspiration for almost any occasion.

Sometimes referred to as cruise collections, resort collections are produced by major fashion houses in addition to the twice yearly spring/ summer and fall/winter seasonal collections. These inter-season collections were originally created for the wealthy upper-class and catered to their winter vacations, which often saw them off on extravagant cruises or holidaying in the Mediterranean (although we’re sure many a lady wore them to a hens party too). These collections originally presented exclusively womens apparel, however, recently menswear has been slowly incorporated into resort lines as well.

We know what you’re probably thinking, designer resort wear sounds a bit too extravagant to draw inspiration from, but the great thing about it is that it exudes a more laid back and casual feeling than the main collections. Even if you are not planning on leaving Adelaide anytime soon, many aspects of resort wear can be incorporated into everyday life, and may even put you in that relaxed and invigorated holiday mood. It’s easy to dress up or down but altering a few accessories which makes it perfect to look at for some hens party attire inspiration. If you are planning on celebrating your hens party during the day and into the night, resort wear provides superb clothing ideas which are suitable for whatever turn the night takes.

We have chosen a few of our favourite looks from the resort collections and have come up with some tips and ideas about how they can be easily incorporated into your hens party look, whether you are the bride-to-be, the maid of honour, a relative or a friend. As mentioned above, resort wear is designed for warmed weather and, for those of you who have stepped outside in the past few days, Adelaide is not exactly currently mimicking the Mediterranean climate. Due to this, we are also going to suggest some tweaks in order to make sure you stay nice and warm through out the hens party, because really, no one likes being cold.

Chanel – Cruise Collection 2019 by Karl Lagerfeld

This was hands down our favourite resort collection, quite fittingly too as Coco Chanel was the first to design specific vacation wear for private clients, which then led to her creation of the very first croisiere (cruise) collection in the 1920s.

Lagerfeld’s 2019 collection incorporated an underlying nautical theme, which was *subtly* hinted to via the enormous model passenger ship the models paraded around. A nautical theme is a great and creative idea to incorporate into your hens party. Our gorgeous male models could bring along props to your Life Drawing Party and pose with ship ropes and shells whilst you, the bride to be, and all her hens learn how to artistically sketch or paint together with the help of our profession art instructors. Adding a nautical element to your outfit is easy too, just opt for a navy, white and red colour scheme, combined with large buttoning details.

Berets were the key headpiece in Lagerfeld’s collection and can easily be translated into an everyday fashion item. They produce an effortlessly chic look and dress up any outfit. They are not just a female accessory either. Our topless waiters would be more than happy to cater to your every need whist adorning one, adding a sexy French vibe to your hens party.

If you are planning on having a more formal hens party, don’t worry, Karl still has you covered. Accessories are a key element in dressing up a look which can be seen with his black, v-neck, peplum dress. Gloves immediately make any look more sophisticated, especially when paired with headwear and a necklace. This is an outfit which would be perfectly suited to our Glam It Up hens party package, which incorporates luxurious four star accomodation, gourmet food and drinks, as well as personalised hens party activities into one deluxe package.

Valentino – Resort 2019 by Pierpaolo Piccioli

We love this heavily Italian inspired collection and how Piccioli can follow a chiffon floor length dress with denim jeans. Following a nautical colour scheme too, albeit more vaguely than Karl, red, white and navy are definitely the colours of the season. Paring block colours together creates a striking and interesting look which can be seen in Piccioli’s coats. To make it more winter-friendly, why not pair a two-coloured coat with trousers and a fitted jumper? To complete your look we offer professional Make-Up Packages where the bride to be and all her guests can sit back and let our makeup artists work their magic on their faces. This is a great option if the hens party is continuing on and you are all hitting the town afterwards.

Piccioli’s decisions to contrast red floral print against a black background is striking and elegant at the same time, enhanced by the sleekness of the black blazer. Blazers are an essential for every wardrobe. They can immediately and effortlessly transform any outfit from casual into nighttime chic which makes them perfect for our Cocktail Making Parties where our attractive and charming models guide you through the basics of cocktail creation. There’s nothing like enjoying the fruits of your (not so hard) labour, and this saying is never more true than when it comes to cocktails.

Erdem – Resort 2019 by Erdem Moralıoğlu

A beautiful collection by Erdem, this resort collection explores different mediums like lace, feathers, and leather, whilst combining signature floral prints with immaculate embroidery and chiffon dresses. We especially love his leopard print, knee length coat paired with a feather head piece. Surly drawing inspiration from the burlesque scene this coat would be perfectly suited to our Burlesque Dancing Parties. Learn the sensual, refined art of burlesque dancing with our super talented and lovely instructors who are there to lead you through the basics. The focus is on dancing of course but also on making the bride-to-be and all her guests feel more confident and sexy in their own skin.

Floral prints, whilst originally reserved for spring/ summer wear, are now suitable all year round, just ask Conde Nast artistic director and Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour, who rocks them almost every day. They can also serve as inspiration in your artistic endeavours such as when you, the bride-to-be and all her guests paint on our gorgeous models in our Paint on the Man Party. Pair them with another print like Erdem for an interesting and individual look or wear them with plain black or white if you’re feeling more subtle.

We hope this seasons resort collections have given you some fresh ideas for your hens party attire. Remember, what looks the best on you is what you love the most and what you are comfortable in!
